If you’re moving to Connecticut and you don’t have health or dental coverage, or if you’re unsatisfied with your current coverage, you may qualify for health and dental coverage through Access Health CT (AHCT). AHCT is the state’s official health insurance marketplace. We can help you find and enroll in coverage that fits your needs and budget.
When Can You Enroll?
Typically, Connecticut residents need to wait until the annual Open Enrollment Period to sign up for a health or dental insurance plan. The Open Enrollment Period starts November 1 every year. However, moving to Connecticut is a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). This means you may be able to enroll in a health or dental plan outside of the Open Enrollment Period with a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). You will typically have 60 days from the date you move to sign up for coverage. Residents can enroll any time of year if they qualify for HUSKY Health Programs (Medicaid/Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)) or the Covered CT Program or are an American Indian or Alaska Native.
Steps to Enroll:
