You may visit the doctor every year, but when was the last time you gave your health or dental insurance a check-up? Taking a fresh look at your insurance options could be good for your health and your wallet.

You might be surprised to find that there may be an option that is better for your health needs. Or maybe switching to a different plan could save you more money.

Here are seven reasons to take another look:

  1. There are new options every year. Access Health CT offers a wide variety of health and dental insurance plans. Some have different monthly payments (premiums). Others have higher or lower out-of-pocket expenses, such as deductibles, copays and coinsurance. It’s a good idea to compare the monthly cost to have a plan and what you will have to pay when you use it.
  2. Your current health or dental insurance may not be best suited for your healthcare needs. At Access Health CT, you can choose from different insurance companies. They offer different health or dental plans with different benefits and provider networks. You will want to make sure any medicines you take and the doctors you visit are included in your plan. A Certified Broker can help you compare plans and select the one that is best for you and your family.
  3. You may qualify for financial help. Access Health CT is the only place where you can get financial help to pay for the cost of your health insurance. Some plans offer more financial help than others. Silver Plans, for example, tend to have the most help to lower monthly payments and out-of-pocket costs.
  4. Your current health insurance may overlook your oral health: Access Health CT offers dental insurance for adults. You can sign up for dental insurance even if you don’t have health insurance through Access Health CT or if you have Medicare. Most health plans have dental benefits for kids younger than 26 and some offer limited benefits for adults. You may be able to boost your benefits by adding a separate dental plan.
  5. You may be able to use a Health Savings Account. All Bronze and Catastrophic Plans are eligible to be paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA). You can put money into your HSA tax free and use it to pay for your health care expenses. The money will also help lower your income and may help you qualify for more financial help.
  6. If you’ve left a job recently, you may have temporary coverage that will end or is not the best fit for you. Access Health CT offers insurance plans that may be better for you than COBRA coverage. You may be eligible to enroll if you’ve recently lost or changed jobs.
  7. If you’ve had a life-changing event, you may be able to change your plan outside of the annual Open Enrollment Period. Big life changes like having a baby, getting married, turning 26 or moving to Connecticut allow you to sign up for or change your health or dental plan anytime during the year. These life changes are called Qualifying Life Events. You usually have 60 days from the date of the Qualifying Life Event to sign up or make changes. See what life events allow you to enroll in a new health or dental plan.

Here’s an even better reason to take a second look at your health and dental insurance options. You’re doing the right thing to keep you and your family healthy. If you need help to make sure that you are covered and that you get the plan that works best for you, Access Health CT can help.
